I think I'm going to call it the Parallelogram. It has parallel graphics, RAM, DSP power on the audio board.

If I just add one more 250 SATA, I'll have parallel drives, and if I get an AMD64 X2, I'll have parallel cores on my processor too. :D Oh happy day.

:D good stuff. Mine was very close. I had Seagate Barracudas though for my SCSI bits, and a P2 450. Oh, and I always had Creative video cards while you had Diamond versions of the same card.

Who could forget the V.Everythings. Best fraxing modems in the entire universe they were.

We'll have to update our new specs when you get your board and additional card.

Yeah - that sounds almost identical to a system I had - but I don't think I was rocking both SCSI and IDE hdds. Correct me if you remember better than I, but I don't think I had a system with IDE hard drives from the time I had the 2.1GB Hawk and 700MB Quantum (my mp3 drive - ha!) up until I sold the "server" system and bought the Athlon.

Damn I can't remember. 6.4GB WD sounds so familiar.

Oh, and I never had a voodoo 2.

Me thinks that I had a 6.4GB WD in my 2nd PC which I built for my senior project and eventually transformed into Burnon.

Ahh Burnon! :D

Our burning system at Veritest was called Trogdor. :D (and the Nero icon was renamed to Burninate)

OK, so only some minor changes there, but this thread has to be kept up to date. :D SpidMonX's PC is being upgraded from P4 2.4C/i865 to AMD64 Venice 3200+ on an nForce 3 250 board. It will still use the 9700 Pro for a while until the video card prices all settle (from all the new releases.)

Yeah, we're actually going to be ordering one. They're only $75 for the MSI, which is what I had when I had my AGP 6800 GT. I'm doing a full-chain upgrade. Upgrading my PC, upgrading SpidMonX, upgrading my dad, and then upgrading Slant as well all in the same process. And then I'll have some leftover bits, Athlon XP 2000+, VIA board for it, 1GB DDR333, etc. Not exactly top-drawer so to speak, but it will become a nice entry level game system or netbox for somebody.

2GB of Corsair XMS3200C2 (2 1GB modules)
BFG Tech 7800GT OC (clocked just under GTX speeds)
Creamware Scope Proect (Pulsar 2) DSP Audio (for music)
Creative Labs X-Fi (for games)
160GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 (SATA2+NCQ)

In case it's hard to tell, I just picked up a Creative X-Fi card. I was thinking that with all the upgrades and refinements, it was kinda silly to be sucking processor cycles by using the onboard audio. Now things should be even quicker. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! (not to mention sound better)

Having some issues getting the X2 running. I flashed my BIOS to the latest version before I put the chip in, and immediately started getting strange behavior (still with the Venice.) I put in the X2 anyway, and now I'm having big stability problems. Can't even complete a repair install right now. Bleh...

Replaced my PATA system drive with a SATA2 drive. Got a completely fresh copy of Windows going, copied my data back over, so all seems well now. I have to reinstall all of my games and audio software though. (That's going to take a while.) I think that since I have the space now, I'm going to make a Ghost image of it before all the software is installed. I'll stick that image on my old PATA system drive, and toss it in a box.

It only takes about 20 minutes to install XP using that SATA2 drive. 8) I've never actually seen XP install that fast before. I wish I had a couple of them mirrored for my data drive.

Finally worked out the problem I was having with the latest (81.XX) revision Nvidia drivers. I was getting blue-screens in certain games. Well, I installed the AMD Dual Core CPU driver (from the AMD site,) changed one BIOS option, and now everything is tip-top. I'm running the CPU(s) at 2400, at 1.4 volts, which idles at 34C. :D The new NV drivers support dual cores, and seem to have noticeable performance increases. Not huge, but there are less hitches, and much more consistent frame rates it seems. I was getting some strange glitches in certain demos, and some games, where it would run really fast, but occasionally flicker, and tear (with V-Sync) The AMD dual core driver solved that, so it must have been some kinda wacky thread scheduling problem or something like that. Everything is perfect now. Shodan's upgrades are now complete. Edward Diego is in a corner somewhere, crying. :D
