I de-SLIed my system for the second time. Back to one GTX-280. The only thing that doesn't run fully synced is Crysis, and I hardly play it. Not worth the extra power, heat, and setup time per game.

Oh, and I ran Cinebench. The results are on the previous page of this thread.

I just determined that one of my GTX-280s is bad. I thought it was just heat from them being side-by-side. I tried them individually. One works, the other overheats by itself, then slows down. I'll have to get it swapped out, then I can possibly re-SLI.

so those results were from having two gfx cards? what is the fastest CPU available for my NForce 780i? If I get a different motherboard I have to buy another copy of windows vista I think...

That was only one gfx card. The other one is bad, and needs to be returned.

You can get various "extreme" versions of the Core 2 Quad that would work, but they really aren't worth the price premium. You can OC a bit, and get similar results.

You can use the same copy of Vista. You have to activate by phone though most likely. You get a few activations, but sometimes you have to call to say that it was just a motherboard swap, not a new PC. (usually automated, though sometimes you need to talk to someone)

Sorry but the museum has closed down. Now running with a svelte Dual 750 GB 7200.11 setup. No more of that external nonsense.

I think you should just burn the bad gfx card...I know it wouldn't fix it but it would definitely "fix" it.

Is it olive-complected?

Nice setup by the way. I run a pair of them myself with a 500GB for the system drive. (I'm still doing manual RAID though, haven't mirrored or striped them yet.)

So now that the museum is closed, turns out there are problems with 7200.11 firmware:

Maybe this is what j3rk was experiencing.

Maybe, but I also heard the update they released broke something else, or broke it worse or something.

BTW: GTX-295 in full effect!

My drives (except possibly one of them,) are unaffected by this bug. Turns out I had a flaky connector on one of my SATA cables.

Seems kinda crazy I am sitting on 1.25TB of HD space in my new system through two drives...with only 509GB free...guess I will be good for a while...

I have most of my drives free, but still feel like that, because most of my data is on one drive. Then I worry that if I fill up that much space, I have too much data to lose.

I wonder at what point in time would the entire contents of the internet fit on a 1TB HD?

In 2003 supposedly the internet was 532,897TB or 520.4PB

I think that would be cool to have a 512PB hard drive... I like exa better than peta though...and a 1 exabyte drive would kick ass since 0.508EB would contain all of the internet in 2003...according to these guys http://www2.sims.berkeley.edu/research/ ... ternet.htm

OH and our 64-bit CPUs can address 16EB...ridiculous...

I have 5.9 for everything except memory - once I installed faster memory it went to 5.8.

What is the windows gaming graphics rating for R3c?
