I have been so lucky with speed lately no matter where I go. I have been around 18,000-28,000 kpbs down and 750-1500kpbs up.

There is a cooler speedtest place to go(which actually still uses Ookla NetMetrics like speakeasy does - in fact I am positive my results here are going through Speakeasy still) but they will provide three different ways to link to your results so you don't have to use print screen or whatever

www.speedtest.net or you can click on my result graphic below...

I just noticed the speed last a couple of nights ago, and right as I was about to do a test to be sure, the commercial came one. :D

Are you guys able to sustain these speeds? I start high, and then slowly drop down to 6mb, and hold there. Yet the commercial says the speeds are doubling in december.

UP is doubling? Kind of don't care too much if the down doubles but hey that would be nice.

Does it seem a little odd that this 2 page thread has been viewed over 10k+ times? I wouldn't think a thread like this would get the popular...

Hey R3cogniz3r is 2 pages and has only been viewed 400+ times... of course hey jerk is 28 pages and would put it at 13495 views per page if you were to do the math...seems kind of weird still though.

It seems less odd every time we add another post though... :D

Maybe I'll throw the numbers off a bit, by clicking the thread a few extra times per day.

I wonder if google searches for comcast and speed test bring people to this thread? Maybe we have the definitive Comcast Speed Testorz thread.

House by the water speedtest results.

Post by Bill Drayton Jr. »

I seem to just keep getting fastar although I think these speeds are the result of the Porsche of modems my lucky Ambit (this is the waterfront house" results from two different servars...dunno why my up is so high - doubt the new apartment will be as fast.

Hmm out of everyone, I seem to have the slowest speed. Yes I just complained about having 16 megabit. I hear Cox Cable has 50 megabit in the wild out there someplace.

Have you tried the Ping Test? New from the makers of speedtest.

Oh yeah, forgot to say this is at the new apartment now...they say my signal here is too strong...whatever...I think they are deliberately limiting my up...

Am going to get rid of the Terayon and replace it with my trusty Ambit and post new results later...prolly tomorrow...

I wonder if your Ambit is DOCSIS 3.0. Comcast requires a DOCSIS 3 modem for their upper 2 tiers of HSI.

YES!!!!!! GO AMBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Bill Drayton Jr. »

Simply by changing my modem from a TeraYAWN to the AMBIT I get 3 times the UP!

Image

Image

I switched back and forth without changing anything and those are the results...maybe the ambit is so old now that it just doesn't register correctly with the limiting software? I have no idea but I don't care as long as it is fast...there may be one tweak on Comcasts end that may actually have to occur because I believe I am actually going to the old location first before going to my final web destination. Anyway...yeah...go Ambit...

Here are my results for tethered Sprint EVDO in my bedroom with 3-4 out of 5 bars.

It thinks I am in Kansas but I get better results from the LA server so there.

What model is that magical Ambit? Did everyone notice that Comcast just raised its prices on equipment rental. Renting a cable modem is now $5 instead of $3, and cable boxes went from $5 to $6.

At $60 a year, it might actually be worthwhile to buy a modem at this point.

Don't see too many D3.0 modems out there though...
