Nano ITX

Via is about to release Nano-ITX boards that are 12cm X 12cm. Everything integrated, with Mini-PCI slot for anything that needs to be added. That's crazy small. It supports DDR400 memory, and supposedly can play back video flawlessly. I guess it's pretty powerful for the size. There's a link on
www.via.com.tw on the Mini-ITX page. I wonder how it would do with MAME. I know the Mini-ITX boards should be fast enough, which may just fit in the Joymaster, but this one would be even better, (if it's powerful enough,) because I could expand the JM more. (Trackball, steering wheels etc.)
I'm going to pick one of these up and make a microscopic internet PC for my house. So email and other-such don't tie up Master Control.
W-O-R-D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is pretty impressive. It has even got serialATA. But where is the Mini PCI and what kind of processing power does it pack?
I wonder if they will be expensive.

They have enough processor power to play back MPEG 2 and 4 flawlessly on HDTV, TV, VGA, and DVI type displays. (At least that's what the page says.) I think they are 1GHz. Which is probably good enough to run MAME on. Also, they support DDR400, so they have to at least have enough bandwidth to support that properly.

Yeah that will power through MAME with ease. Pretty attractive idea to build the all-in-one joymaster.

Yes, I think it's going to have the system built in, and have a patch panel on the back for connecting audio, video, additional USB devices etc. I'm going to build two spinners into the front, that act as normal "paddle" type spinners. (For playing tron, or pongish games. Warlords?) I'm going to have a friend mill me two small alluminum steering wheels which will attach to those spinners for racing games. I'm going to add a trackball to the top surface for Marble Madness. It will be the "Ultimate Joy System Mk I" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Warlords, now on XBLA!
Does the XBLA version come with a man with guile haircut eating a sandwich? What it does come with is totally revamped graphics!
