I remember when you could get a decent pressurized firkin for a couple of pounds.

An advert for a 9 gallon firkin? I just finally looked up firkin (I knew it was a barrel or keg,) but I was hoping to get a little background. A firkin is usually 9 gallons, or a quarter of a standard barrel/cask. It's a Dutch word.
The only word the dutch could create... [TEE HEE HEE]
They're also usually made of wood, but I think the word carries over to the standard metal keg of today.
And there's our lesson on firkins for the day. Maybe I should start a weekly column in here with little tidbits of information on the history and use of the firkin.

I like to give them a little breathing room, so I only do 3 per.
