What's your favorite city in Tokyo, yo?

So what is your favorite? Why?

Pointless? Maybe - hey I am trying to spark some conversation!

Well I originally had a list of like 25 towns, but this forum only supports up to 10 options, so I had to group some together and delete a bunch. But if your favorite is someplace like 成城 (Seijo) - just write it in.

I really love Shimo-kitazawa and will probably try to live near there if I find myself back in Tokyo. And I think Aoyama would be great palce to live if you worked downtown and were loaded. Plus I really like the Ebisu/Meguro area. But my vote had to go to Shibuya cause it is just so unreal. That place has gotta be experienced to be believed. So much going on - from the flashing lights and whizzing people to the pachinko parlors and music in the shops. I love to try to close my eyes and just listen. Outta control.

Oh, I figured out how to increase the amount of options you can have for a poll. Next time I guess.

So on the topic of Tokyo Cities...Where is the best to live, compared with the best to hangout?

If you could only spend one day in Tokyo, what would you do? First time in Tokyo? Revisiting?

Tryin to spark some big city conversation.

There is always something funky goin' down there. I like Shinjuku too though. It's got a slightly grittier feeling. (And some nice hotels) Next time I'll be going with someone a bit more fun. Not someone that makes me

and the Serena (Don't remember the spelling,) steak and shabu shabu restaurant has some of the best food that's ever been in my mouth. And it's on the 50th floor with a nice view. Damn Right!!!

There are different "ku"s or wards that make up the city for political reasons (city govt, etc). Shibuya-ku 渋谷区　　actually encompasses Shibuya and Ebisu and Hiro-o, etc. But I am mainly thinking in terms of "parts of town." Which usually get there names from the address, ie　西麻布一丁目　 (Nishi-Azabu i-chome) ...how do you write 一丁目in romaji?

... I think I'd like to go live on a hillside in Kamakura (sp?) Quite beautiful there and only about an hour-hour and half from Tokyo. Good food too.

I tried to find a good drooling emoticon, but none of the ones I ould find out there had the eyes rolling into the head which I think is necessary to convey the drool inducing emotion.

We're going to move to Matsuyama-on-Sea on August 4-5.

We're going to drive down to Osaka, get on the night ferry, and float into our new home.

This is the slum dwelling that we have arranged for ourselves.

That little angled window jutting out in the middle will be my office, and it looks out over the Inland Sea. The roads around this area seem designed for sk8t3rs, although the Resident's Association might not be too keen on them...

I think the 'rabit hutch' housing is partly an urban thing, and partly an ignorance thing. I looked around this house with my aunt in law who lives in Matsuyama. This pad costs 90,000 per month to rent, while her son and his family are in a very small apartment costing 70,000. She went away with a very thoughtful look on her face. People just aren't aware of the reality of the rental market and think they have to settle for small. (We also make economies on things like cars, mobile phones, and designer clothes, but we splash out elsewhere...)

There are a lot of big houses around in the suburbs, and they often cost the same or less than so-called 'mansions'. I don't know why, because the quality of life available is completely different.

I just hope I can work hard enough to pay the rent...

Well that will be quite a change from the Nagano highlands. Looks like a good location. How long by boat to Osaka? (looks far) What about Hiroshima?

You can actually drive on to Shikoku can't you?

No that's not a garage. Thass a double garage. Gotta have somewhere to put my Dirtsurfer and T-board and Outback and Freebord and shit.

It should be a better settup lifestyle-wise than Suwa. I'll be sorry to be leaving the Suwa boys though.

We get on the boat at 9 pm and arrive at 6 am the next morning, no doubt a little the worse for some greasy izakaya food and several dai-jockeys. Then it will just be a matter of figgering out which Ethernet cable goes in which hole all over again, and we'll be set.

The Internet thing is a nightmare. I don't know how that's all going to work out. In theory we have it sorted out at the other end, but that remains to be seen.

Until NTT get their little man pulling miles of optical fibre to our house, the connection promises to be mighty slow. Apparently it will take him 3 months to pull his cable from the NTT building to our house.
