Hey man, how you been?

Well it may be easy or it may be complicated, but we need a bit more info.

First of all, is it a notebook or a desktop? If it is a notebook you are out of luck. Pretty much all notebook components, short of RAM and Hard Drive are set and you would just have to buy a new machine.

Assuming you have a desktop PC, is it a brand name system (Sony, Fujistsu etc)? If yes, what brand? Do you know the model number?

Is it a fancy "mini" japanese style PC like pretty much all the ones you see in the electronic stores? If so a CPU upgrade may be limited.

If the system is built by a small OEM or by someone you know then your upgrade options are the best.

Is it an Intel or AMD CPU?

Basically the deal is this: If you want to upgrade a 600MHz processor you need to know what chipset you have on your motherboard. Some intel chipsets that support a 600 will support up to a 1GHz but you might have a hell of a time finding a 1GHz chip. So chances are you will need to replace both your CPU and Motherboard. If you have a computer with a small specially made motherboard (proprietary) then it will be more difficult to find a motherboard that can fit in your case. If you have a bigger case then chances are you can buy a standard format motherboard (hopefully ATX) and just slap that in with your new CPU of choice - you can get 2.5GHz CPUs these days for under Y20,000.

Depending on what RAM you have now and what your new MB will support there is a chance you will have to replace that as well.

It is possible that it would be more economical to get a new PC or at least buy a new case, MB, CPU, RAM and use some of your old parts (HDD, Video, CD-Rom etc) from your current PC.

If you can get us the detailed specs or maybe some pictures of the interior of your system we can offer you some more specific help.

Hope this helps.
