Sammy Studios - LACC NCR. Sammy Studios will hold a press conference to unveil a video game inspired by one of the greatest samurai movies of all times, Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai." In tribute to the classic film, creation of the "Seven Samurai" video game has involved renowned artists, including characters by world famous artist Moebius (whose credits include design work for films such as "Alien", "Tron" and the "Fifth Element"); music from composer Ryuichi Sakamoto (most famous for his Academy Award-winning score for "The Last Emperor"; and with the full involvement of the Kurosawa estate, including Akira's own son Hisao Kurosawa. Sammy Studios has arranged to have Moebius and Hisao Kurosawa, along with lead designers and developers from the game, on hand to unveil the "Seven Samurai" game. Attendees at the E3 press conference will have among the first people to see this tribute to Akira's vision recreated as a video game.

That should be extremely cool. Any hint about the genre of game? What is Sammy famous for?

Well...

... Sammy is unfortunately famous for stupid cartoons, toys, and videogames, though I'm sure they have their grubby little fingers in other pies as well. I think Sega is buying them, then Namco is buying Sega. So I guess Namco is going to own everything. (Which sounds good to me, they are a cool company.) Anyway, I don't know anything more about the game, but I'd imagine it to be partially strategy, and part 1st or 3rd person combat perhaps. I'd imagine it to be pretty close to how Unreal 2 works, where you can set up protective perimeters, etc. Then go hold off invaders. It would be so cool if you could fortify the farms, strategy style, then go off and fight bandits. Maybe switch back and forth on the fly or something. They have a lot of potential using these materials, so hopefully they do something grand.
