I heard there were alot of funny outtakes at the end of the credits; did you see those? They're meant to be the funniest part of the movie.

(note: I'm referring to funny outtakes from "Anchorman", not from "Fog of War"...)

I thought the "Fog of War" outtakes were pretty funny, but not the funniest part of the movie.

The Bourne Supremacy One part Jack Ryan, one part James Bond, Matt Damon plays superman in this adaptation of the Robert Ludlum novel and sequel to 2002's "The Bourne Identity." Still trying to fill the holes of his past, Jason Bourne goes on a rampage of revenge across Europe when his pleasant life of exile on an Indian beach is interrupted for some incredibly lame plan. Basically, this Russian oil magnate wants to off some CIA agents and they just kinda pick Bourne at random to frame with the intention of later killing him and sending the CIA into confusion over the evidence that it was Bourne that committed the murders. But instead of killing him first, they just go ahead and run the CIA murder plan. But ohhh did they underestimate the wrong guy!! Woo wee! Bourne lives and kicks some serious ass. I am not sure how easy it is to fake a fingerprint, but I imagine it would have been considerably easier if they had just killed Bourne first, maybe cut off his finger and used that instead. Even though the entire film is based on such a glaring plot hole (and oh boy are there more) it is not a bad film. The car chase scene, while completely impossible, is entertaining. Franka Potente and Julia Stiles are both good but underutilized. The bottom line is, while it is not horrible it is certainly not particularly good.

Hellboy Begin suspension of disbelief before you start this one. When an evil wizard, imbued with the power to make his henchmen immortal, teams up with the Nazis to open an interdimensional portal to unleash certain doom on the planet, a little red monkey guy with a big hand jumps out instead. The Allies win and the wizard gets...uhhh, well he dissappears or something. Fast forward to present day where a special task force has been set up around Hellboy and Fishman-Niles. These freaks form some kind of Ghostbuster team, but Hellboy is more interested in sneaking off to kick it with his mutant human torch girlfriend than fighting crime. However, when the evil Nazi wizard returns with his S&M Voldo assassin and evil Nazi blonde bombshell, Hellboy reluctanly kicks it into high gear and saves the planet. If this sounds like something you would enjoy then see the movie. If you are thinking, "what the fu..?" then skip it. It is most certainly a comic book movie, and while maybe not the genre at its best, it keeps its sense of humor and does definitely entertain.

The borne supremacy: Good car chase, and not much else. I want my 10$ back, and what the hell is up with the shaky cam... annoying.

FRAILITY

Has anyone seen this movie? I found it to be quite the little mind blower. It is a little too hard to explain but I would love to know if anyone else has seen it. And if not, I would highly suggest it! Post please!

Is that the story of the gods hand killer, with Bill Paxton, and Matt McConehey? I loved it, but seems as though everyone else hated it.

Think ender was one of those such haters. I dunno, I thought it was great!

I, Robot Hmmmmm... I would have to say that basically this movie sucked. It was full of plot holes, predictability, and bad dialog. The CG was fine, but nothing revolutionary in this day and age. Will Smith was good, but his supporting cast (Bridget Moynahan?) were dismal. But it was most mired by stupid dialog like, "How did the AI evolve? Was it Random segments of code?" Riiiight. Oh and the plot, come on! Some incredibly convoluted set of clues left for this dude with such an anticlimactic payoff. Whew! You can skip this one.

Jersey Girl I first had high hopes for Kevin Smith's first movie that was not part of 5 part Jay and Silent Bob series. Then I read the reviews. So when I finally got around to seeing the flick (on a plane) I knew not to expect much. Once again, low expectations made an average movie fun. In Jersey Girl, a romantic, neh, emotional comedy, Ben Affleck (boy is Smith tied to him) plays a heartless father, mad because j.Lo died, that wants to be rid of his daughter until his pops (played well by George Carlin) talks some sense into him. But that is just the prologue. Jump 7 years forward to find Affleck sweeping streets in a Jersey burb, treasuring his daughter and waiting for a chance to make it back into the Manhattan game. So, uhhh, then he meets Liv Tyler, gets a chance to go back to Manhattan, but decides to stay in Jersey with his daughter and dad. Oops, that was the whole movie. Sorry, but there was never really anything to give away. It was obvious from the start what was going on and the plot is pure fluff. Smith is capable of so much more than this actually pretty lame movie (my favorite romantic comedy is probably his "Chasing Amy"). But like I said, I had low expectations and it was worth watching. Especially enjoyable were the cameos by Jason Lee and Matt Damon as well as the supporting role of Stephen Root (AKA Office Space's Milton).

I never liked Kevin Smith, and I see no reason to ever like Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith casts bad actors. Kevin Smith makes boring movies. Kevin Smith should marry Ben Affleck in Massachusetts. :eviltongue:

Kevin Smith should also learn how to dress. FriXing Dork! Bleh...

I would put Kevin Smith in the same boat as Dolphin Boy and Chubby Cox. I hate him and wouldn't touch him with a 10" pole. I think Mr. Affleck would though, so perhaps all is not lost?

Oh, did you see how Hero is now a Quentin Tarantino movie?!?! :grind: How fucky-busheaded is that? Let's see, a movie comes out in China, it's out for over a year (at least as far as I know,) and then it comes out here, only in the commercial it say "Quentin Tarantino's Hero" What a bunch of frickin' crap. Not like he writes ANY of his own material, but still... Stupid FuX0r!

I wonder if it also had the action director of the Matrix? :D

I don't know, but the commercial says "Quentin Tarantino's Here" Pluah!! I watched Choki's DVD of it over a year ago. It's an excellent movie. It definitely has absolutely nothing to do with QT. I hate him. Tell him I hate him. He doesn't have much to do with anything his name goes on. Stupid jeRx0r...

I watched ong bak last night. Campy as hell... which is a good thing in this case, and the action was great, but the fighting got to be a little repetitive. It's nice to have at least a liiiiitle bit of story in a kungfu/martial arts flic.

p.s. The tree scene in the begining is awesome! They climb like monkeys. I want to learn how to move around a tree like those guys! Image

Ah right, the movies thread. Before I get to some new "reviews/synopses..."

l2ick - Le Pacte des Loups - done in 2001 when most monkeys on here saw it... (sorry the "fucking" sounded so aggressive).

Garden State I have no excuse for not raving about this movie earlier. It is a wonderful piece of touching yet very funny and well acted cinema. Both writer/director Zach Braff and Natalie Portman shine and the supporting cast is made up of brilliant performances. The story is full of very dry humor and leaves you with a tough feeling in your stomach. My only criticism is that it feels like it knows that it is pushing your buttons and does so without regret. However it does it flawlessly and this is as much a triumph as it is a drawback. I heartily recommend this as a must see movie. It is an especially good movie to see on a date.

Maria Full of Grace This new movie from Colombia follows a girl played by the amazing Catalina Sandino Moreno, as she lives from her days dethorning roses in a Bogota suburb to running drugs to the United States. The movie is amazingly powerful, thanks largely to Moreno's Berlin International Film Festival Best Actress winning performance. A bit slow at times, this film tackles some tough subject matter and succeeds with a feel not unlike Soderbergh's Traffic. It is easy to see why this movie has been critically acclaimed.

Battle Royale 2 Heh... Well the first one was about these delinquent Japanese kids that had to kill or be killed on a jungle island. It was great. The sequel puts a bunch of other kids on an island, this time less of a jungle, to try to kill a bunch of terrorist kids. Although this movie does have some elements of classically hilarious Japanese action flicks, it is mired by melodrama. It does however make some interesting commentary on America's (and Japan's) current role in the world. "Just bombing anyone they feel like makes them mad is pretty childlike." Word! ...but the movie sucks.

Open Water - Heard good things about this low-budget flick and decided to check it out... The premise is solid, the acting is well done, the characters are very real, and the suspense is sky high at times... but nothing unexpected really happens... and ultimately it ends up being pretty anticlimactic.

I enjoyed it, but... I walked away thinking wtf... that was it??

OPEN WATER: I also recently saw this. Two loaves in boilet towl.
The acting(?) was yawnage and the ending left me sitting wide eyed saying "no... no.. that cannot be the end of the movie"
One vomit.. a nip on the calf and some brief nudity is all the action you can expect. I don't know how they can compare this movie to Jaws on any level.

NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE: Had me softly laughing the entire movie with one decent bellow towards the end. Not much plot.. or at least not much out of the ordinary on a storyline such as: Awkward teen boy goes to high school, gets picked on, has an even more awkward family, befriends an outsider, doesn't really end up with the girl, End. Situational humor and several well developed characters kept it interesting enough to be OK with the money spent.
My teeth are green and I'm high as a kite.. merry fucking christmas!!

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence: Most strikingly, some of these visuals are absolutely hands-down, chillingly gorgeous. The storyline is very interesting and the dialogue is humorous. However, the movie goes a bit over the top with conversations that largely consist of textbook dialog. But what do you expect, the majority of characters talking are cybernetically enhanced human smarty-pants and robots. Additionally, since the visuals are so carefully and sincerely assembled, it seems quite disrespectful to force non-Japanese speakers to take their eyes off of them in order to read the English subtitles. This is animation, why not re-dub the audio in English? The subtitles seriously detract from this film's elegance in visual and dialogue.

Paycheck

I watched paycheck today. Why, you may ask? I'll tell you why, the blockbuster fredom pass. After you have rented every good movie on the shelf, and seen almost $200 in movies. Things like paycheck start to look good, but in actuality its not good.

It was directed by john woo, and wasnt so bad of a movie. That is until ben afflek grabbed a staff, and suddenly became a ninja warrior, then some doves flew by. I lost total respect when someone ripped some fiberoptic cables out of a wall and there was high voltage sparks shooting out of it.

Starts out good, but ends up turning into a pile o poo.
